AG Horne and Peoria Police Announce Sentencing of Kenneth Allen Rump for Involvement in Prescription Drug Ring

PHOENIX (Thursday June 2, 2011) -- Attorney General Tom Horne, and the Peoria Police Department, today announced that Kenneth Allen Rump II, one of the members of a prescription drug fraud ring, was sentenced to six and a half years in the Arizona Department of Corrections on one count of Sale of a Narcotic Drug in a Drug Free School Zone, a class two felony. In addition, Rump received a five year probation sentence that will follow his stay in prison on a class three Acquisition of a Narcotic Drug by Fraud charge.

Rump was charged after a joint Peoria Police Department and Attorney General’s Office investigation uncovered that a co-defendant Leanne Durivage had stolen blank prescription pads from the health care provider she worked for and sold them to another co-defendant Tyler Deane. Deane then recruited Rump and 11 others to participate in filling the prescriptions for Oxycodone which Deane and Rump sold on the streets.  The group was responsible for obtaining at least 5000 pills with a street value between $79,000 and $159,000.

The case was prosecuted by the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit of the Attorney General’s Office.
