AG Brnovich Announces Millions of Dollars Returned to Arizonans

PHOENIX -- Attorney General Mark Brnovich is pleased to announce the Consumer Information and Complaints (CIC) unit recovered a record $5.4 million for Arizonans who filed complaints with the Attorney General's Office (AGO) over the past fiscal year.

The CIC is made up of 12 employees who work to resolve complaints when they first come in to the AGO.

In addition to the millions returned to Arizonans, the numbers of complaints the CIC unit fielded during FY22 are also impressive:

  • 13,928 complaints
  • 37,609 calls
  • 21,496 emails

The top three complaints over the past year involve car sales, robocalls, and real estate.

“Consumer protection is a core function of the Attorney General and I have always made it a priority,” said Attorney General Mark Brnovich. “I’m proud that our exceptional team has consistently achieved the mission with distinction, establishing new standards of responsiveness and facilitating record levels of restitution for the people of Arizona.”

AGTV spoke with the AGO's Civil Litigation Division Chief Counsel, Joe Sciarrotta, about the significance of this year's record-breaking numbers.

The CIC unit operates under the Consumer Protection Section of the AGO's Civil Litigation Division.
