Tucson Man Sentenced to 100 Years in Prison for Sexual Exploitation of a Child

TUCSON – Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced a judge sentenced Jesse Ryan Swaffar to 100 years in prison for Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. In November, a jury found Swaffar guilty of 10 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor after investigators found thousands of videos and pictures of child pornography on Swaffar's computer.

"Swaffar exploited and victimized innocent children," said Attorney General Mark Brnovich. "This case highlights the importance of working together to protect our most vulnerable from child predators."

On April 7, 2015, the Tucson Police Department received a 911 call from Swaffar’s girlfriend who claimed she found child pornography on Swaffar’s computer.  TPD seized multiple computers and hard drives from Swaffar’s home. A full forensic examination found thousands of pictures and videos of child pornography that had been organized into folders and stored on various electronic devices, including an encrypted hard drive. Swaffar was arrested and indicted on 10 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. The victims in the pictures and videos were under 15 years of age.

Before he was indicted, Swaffar, 34, was in the Air Force stationed at Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson. He was discharged from the Air Force when the Tucson Police Department began its investigation.

Assistant Attorneys General Jared Kramer-Hope and Jordan Emerson prosecuted this case.
