Substance Abuse

Access to the Internet and social networking sites have increased our children’s ability to be exposed to negative influences such as drugs and alcohol. A 2011 study conducted by the national Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University (CASA Columbia) found: 70% of kids/teens between the ages of 12-17 report spending time on social networking sites in a typical day. In partnership with the Arizona Governor's Office for Children, Youth and Families, we are working together to combat the ongoing issue of prescription medication and illegal substance abuse in our communities.
