The Arizona Attorney General’s Office State Government Division/Environmental Enforcement Section, is seeking two Assistant Attorneys General. The positions will represent the agency client, Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ). Positions provide legal services to ADEQ in the areas of environmental law including water quality, solid waste, hazardous waste, air quality, underground storage tanks (“UST”), Water Quality Assurance Revolving Fund (“WQARF”), and Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (“CERCLA”). Positions represent the State of Arizona and ADEQ in cases involving environmental enforcement and cases requiring the defense of agency decisions under environmental laws. The attorneys’ duties include, but are not limited to, preparing cases for litigation and trying complex environmental cases in federal and state civil court and administrative appeals, as necessary; rendering legal advice on environmental law to the client agency and interpreting state and federal environmental statutes, rules and regulations; other duties as assigned. Minimum travel is required, as is regular attendance.
