Assistant Attorney General (Criminal Division)

Division: Criminal Division

Location: Tucson

Position Summary: The Arizona Attorney General’s Office Criminal Division/Southern Arizona White Collar and Criminal Enterprise Section (SAWCCE) is seeking an Assistant Attorney General. This position prosecutes criminal cases primarily in Southern Arizona, and occasionally statewide, that are within the jurisdiction of the Arizona Attorney General's Office.  Generally, those cases are classified as: (1) white collar, (2) organized crime; (3) elder financial exploitation; (4) internet crimes against children; (5) public corruption; and (6) county attorney conflicts and referrals.  Attorneys in the SAWCCE section specialize in these areas of law and are expected to handle all aspects of these cases from charging decisions, grand jury presentations, pretrial and post-trial motions practice, and preparing and presenting cases for jury trials.  This position will also coordinate with law enforcement during investigations, advise on case development and strategies, review investigative material, interview witnesses, and issue grand jury subpoenas and racketeering demand letters. Occasionally, SAWCCE attorneys will oversee wiretap investigations, draft legislative proposals, conduct trainings for law enforcement and other criminal justice agencies, and review superior court criminal contempt referrals.
