Internet Safety Guide for Teens
A message from Mark Brnovich to kids & teens about Internet Safety, Cyber-Crimes and Substance Abuse:
You are part of the generation that has grown up with the Internet. You know what a great tool it is for connecting with friends, finding out what is going on in the world and doing everything from shopping to research for homework.
There are people on the Internet who can be dangerous. Some of these people will go to chat rooms, message boards or social network sites and find ways to take advantage of you. Even though they may not be in the same room or even the same city as you, they can still cause serious problems for you and your family. Additionally, access to the internet and social networking sites may also increase your exposure to negative influences such as drugs, alcohol and smoking. It is important that you learn what these problems and negative influences look like and how to stay away from danger.
This booklet talks a lot more about those problems and what you can do to protect yourself. You can also go to www.azag.gov to find out more ways to be safe on the Internet.
