One of the major areas where the Attorney General's Office uses its legal expertise is in the area of support for families and children. The Attorney General works with the Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES), the various counties and the courts to establish and enforce support obligations. The attorneys and legal staff of the Child Support Service Section (CSSS) provide legal advice and representation to the Division of Child Support Services (DCSS) within DES. DCSS is responsible for the statewide operation of the child support program. CSSS represents the program in paternity, support order establishment, modification, and enforcement matters in both local and interstate cases. The CSSS does not represent private individuals.
There are eleven CSSS locations, handling cases in thirteen different counties* throughout the State of Arizona. In the other counties, the County Attorney provides child support services. For the child support office nearest you, please refer to the DCSS website link below.
You may also apply for services with DES by calling (602) 252-4045 or 1-800-882-4151 and obtaining an application or you may download the forms from the DCSS website. www.azdes.gov/dcss. Most services are available at no cost to the party, although there may be a nominal charge for some services.
