Victims’ Rights Complaints
The Attorney General’s Office acts as an ombudsman for crime victims by addressing victims' complaints of criminal or juvenile entities and conducting inquiries into alleged violations of victims’ rights laws.
What the Office of Victim Services can do:
"Victim" means a person against whom the criminal offense has been committed, including a minor, or if the person is killed or incapacitated, the person's spouse, parent, child, grandparent or sibling, any other person related to the person by consanguinity or affinity to the second degree or any other lawful representative of the person, except if the person or the person's spouse, parent, child, grandparent, sibling, other person related to the person by consanguinity or affinity to the second degree or other lawful representative is in custody for an offense or is the accused ( A.R.S. § 13-4401(19)).
If you are a victim as defined by A.R.S. § 13-4401(19) and you believe your rights have been violated during the criminal or judicial process, the first step is to contact the agency in question and request the relief you believe is appropriate. If you are unsuccessful in resolving the issue, you may file a complaint with the Arizona Attorney General’s Office of Victim Services.
