(Phoenix, Ariz. - Sept. 23, 2009) Attorney General Terry Goddard will visit Osborn Middle School on Monday, September 28, to talk about how to stay safe on the Internet with approximately 300 8th graders starting at 1:30 p.m.
Topics will include avoiding Internet predators, cyberbullying, staying safe on social networking sites and protecting personal information online. This event is part of Goddard’s ongoing Internet Safety School Tour. Since 2005, he and Attorney General’s Office staff have presented at more than 150 schools and talked with more than 35,000 Arizona students about using the Internet safely.

Goddard encourages parents to talk with their kids and teens about Internet safety and recommends the following simple rules:
● Never arrange a face-to-face meeting with someone you met online.
● Never upload or post pictures of yourself on the Internet or give them to people you do not know.
● Never give out identifying information such as your name, home address, school name or telephone number.
● Never download pictures from an unknown source, as there is a good chance these can be sexually explicit images.
● Never respond to messages or bulletin board postings that are suggestive, obscene, belligerent or harassing.
