DESCRIPTION - Position to provide highly experienced administrative and legal secretarial support to Section Chief Counsel and two or more civil litigation attorneys of the Public Advocacy Division, Consumer Protection & Advocacy Section. Duties include draft and/or type a wide variety of legal correspondence, petitions, briefs, legal opinions, pleadings, motions, legal notices and forms; review and docket incoming/outgoing material; transcribe dictation and hearings; maintain attorney calendars and coordinate events such as hearings, meetings, depositions, etc. for more than one person; make travel arrangements and complete necessary documentation for travel; maintain a compilation of various office files; prepare reports; review outgoing material for accuracy/completion; and work on special projects for the Section. Ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, have excellent organization skills and able to work efficiently in fast-paced office. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel strongly preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES - Knowledge of the principles and practices of administration and management. Ability to effectively administer, manage and/or coordinate the activities of a program(s) with minimal supervision. Ability to plan, analyze, and coordinate multiple work activities and establish appropriate priorities. Ability to analyze and resolve difficult issues. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Ability to use computer programs and other office equipment. Skill in researching and problem-solving. Skills in analyzing and interpreting fiscal and statistical data, as well as reconciling records and reports. Skill in using various computer programs including Microsoft XP, Word, Word Perfect, Access, Power Point, Excel and graphical publication software.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION – Typical ways to obtain KSA’s would be: three years of responsible secretarial experience; or a Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the assignment from an accredited college or university and two years responsible secretarial experience.
Position is not covered by the State Merit System.
