Protecting children is a key priority of the Attorney General's Office, whether through enforcing laws governing Internet usage, tobacco accessibility or child abuse. The Computer Crimes Act of 2000 makes it a crime for pedophiles to "lure" children over the Internet or knowingly send pornography to children.
Since the signing of the Master Settlement Agreement with the tobacco industry, the Attorney General's Office has been working diligently with tobacco companies to ensure that education efforts to keep children from smoking cigarettes or using tobacco products are properly administered.
