PEER MEDIATION

Peer mediation is a type of conflict resolution where trained students help other students work together to work out their arguments. Peer mediation is voluntary and confidential. In other words, whatever is said during mediation, will not be told to anyone outside of the room. Peer mediation provides schools with an alternative to normal disciplinary actions, like being suspended or detention after school. In peer mediation, trained students help their classmates recognize the problems causing the argument and find a solution. It is not important who is right or wrong, but to figure out how to get along together again. Also in peer mediation it is important to let each student tell his or her own story and then to make them feel as though someone understands his or her point of view.

3. Come up with some solutions
   
4. Discuss the solutions
   
5. Agree upon a solution
   
6. Sign a contract
